FHS Students Score Points in Sports

The Faculty of Humanities has recently celebrated students who, in addition to academic achievements, excel in the field of sports.

During the UTB Gala Evening in April, Barbora Macurová, a first-year student of Social Pedagogy, was awarded the title of Best Athlete of UTB.
Barbora is currently one of the most talented and successful sky runners in the Czech Republic and consistently ranks among the top in international competitions. She demonstrated her continually advancing athletic career and fitness on 7 May at the 27th Czech Republic Marathon Championship, where she won a silver medal.

Another significant achievement was recorded by Zuzana Ponížilová, a second-year student in the German Language for Managerial Practice programme. Zuzana has dedicated over 13 years to rhythmic gymnastics, in which she has been crowned Czech Republic Champion multiple times. Her recent accomplishments include her victory on 21 May 2023 in Hradec Králové, where she won the title of Czech Champion in the all-around category for the free programme, a gold medal for her ball routine, and a silver for her hoop routine. Zuzana’s exceptional fitness led her to climb the podium again during her latest competition in Prague on 17 June, where she won three gold medals for the all-around and her routines with the hoop and ball. “This spring competition season, I participated in seven cup competitions, a regional championship, and the Czech Republic Championship. Altogether, I won 18 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze medals for the all-around and individual routines with the hoop, ball, and clubs,” summarised Zuzana Ponížilová. Lucie Daňková, a second-year student at the Faculty of Humanities, also achieved an extraordinary success at the European University Cup in Powerlifting. The championship was held in Albi, France. Lucie placed second in her category, as well as in the squat discipline with a performance of 152.5 kg.
She won first place in the bench press with a performance of 85 kg and secured second place in the deadlift with a lift of 155 kg.
Congratulations on your success!
