Cooperation between the Faculty and the Prison Service of the Czech Republic
2. September 2024The Faculty of Humanities has established significant partnerships in the field of education and professional practice. The Rector of UTB Milan Adámek signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation with the Director of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic (VS ČR) in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty Libor Marek.
The collaboration between the two institutions commenced in the autumn of 2023, when representatives of the Czech Prison Service (VS ČR) accepted an invitation to the Conference on Restorative and Retributive Justice, organised by the Department of Educational Sciences of the Faculty of Humanities (FHS) at Tomas Bata University (UTB) in cooperation with the Probation and Mediation Service in Zlín. The partnership between the faculty and the prison service developed further and culminated on 26 April 2024 in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation. The memorandum was signed during a meeting between the Rector of Tomas Bata University, Professor Milan Adámek, PhD, and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Libor Marek, PhD, and the Director General of the Czech Prison Service, Major General Simon Michailidis, MBA, at the headquarters of the Czech Prison Service in the Pankrác Prison complex. “Both institutions have agreed to collaborate primarily in the areas of education and practical training for UTB students in preparation for their future professions. They will also cooperate on research, development, and innovation projects, as well as on the creation and implementation of lifelong learning programmes,” stated Libor Marek.
