Student at the Institute of School Pedagogy teaches children directly in Paris

She was in Paris five years ago with a choir and fell in love with the city. When she learned about the possibility of coming here for a longer period of time, she did not hesitate. Tereza Vintrová is a 2nd year student of Teaching for the First Grade of Primary School and is in France on a practical placement through the Erasmus+ programme. The Faculty of Humanities received a call from the Czech School without Borders Paris (CSBH), which was looking for an intern with a specialization that exactly matched the focus of the students at the Institute of School Pedagogy. Tereza took advantage of this offer and is now gaining invaluable experience and practice in a foreign environment, which will be an undeniable advantage for her in her job search. She works at the Czech School Without Borders, which is attended by children who grow up in a multilingual environment and are spoken to exclusively in Czech at school and kindergarten. As part of her internship, Tereza prepares her own materials and programs for the children, speaks Czech at work, and communicates in English outside of work. Once a week she is in charge of the kindergarten and once a week she is in charge of the school with classes of second and third graders. Thanks to the fact that she teaches them in Czech and supplements everything with games, the children naturally build up not only their vocabulary, but mainly helps them to form a relationship with the Czech environment in general. Although the preparation of materials and subsequent teaching for the bilingual classes of children is challenging, Tereza is doing very well and encourages all the other students to take advantage of the opportunity to go abroad as part of their studies.
