Health Day for Children of UTB Employees
7. March 2023On 24 August 2022, the Institute of Health Sciences (ÚZV) at FHS UTB hosted the Health Day for Children of UTB Employees for the second time.
This year’s event was organised in close cooperation with the Institute of Food Analysis and Chemistry (ÚACHP) at the Faculty of Technology (FT) and focused on promoting health and wellness among the children of university staff. The morning session was dedicated to preparing healthy snacks, which the children enthusiastically made, enjoyed, and discussed in relation to the importance of nutrition for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. As a special treat after lunch, they were rewarded with delicious “healthy” strawberry ice cream. However, before they could enjoy the ice cream, they participated in a competition that challenged them to provide unconventional first aid while navigating a sack race. The programme also included lessons on proper toothbrushing techniques and oral hygiene. The children actively engaged in learning basic knots, which can be useful for immobilising an injured limb.
The highlight of the program was the afternoon Olympics in disciplines that focused on sensory perception and physical activities. The end of the Health Day was dedicated to the resuscitation of a teddy bear and the practice of taking off the helmet in case of first aid.
Each activity was evaluated, and the children left with certificates and well-deserved gifts provided by FHS and FT UTB in Zlín. Special thanks go to the students who devoted themselves intensively to the programme and accompanying the children throughout the day.
