Mgr. Irena Balaban Cakirpaloglu, Ph.D.
Department of Pedagogical SciencesShe focuses on the education of pupils with a different first language and those coming from diverse cultural and life backgrounds, working within the framework of current legislation and everyday school practice. She teaches courses in multicultural education and cultural and social anthropology, integrating theoretical perspectives with practical experience from schools. She has long been involved in systemic and research projects aimed at supporting schools, developing teachers’ professional competencies, shaping educational policy, and creating conditions for equal educational opportunities for all pupils.

2022 – present | National Pedagogical Institute of the Czech Republic (NPI ČR) Regional Coordinator for the North Moravian Region – project “Support for Equal Opportunities”, NPO 3.2 Regional Coordinator for Children/Pupils with a Different First Language • Coordination of activities and methodological support for schools in the Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions, with a focus on equal opportunities in education; leadership of a regional team of experts. • Collaboration on the implementation of a methodology for identifying pupils with social disadvantage and contribution to promoting the position of a school social pedagogue within national education legislation. • Expert counselling and consultations with school leadership in the areas of inclusion and the education of pupils with a different first language; delivery of workshops and development of support methodologies.
