Mgr. Iva Žáková, Ph.D.
Department of School EducationShe graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno, specialising in special education with a focus on speech therapy and sign language therapy. She also completed her bachelor’s studies at the Tomas Bata University in Zlín, majoring in Social Pedagogy. During her studies she worked as a teacher in a kindergarten, a speech therapist in certification training and then she started to work with people with impaired communication skills. Since 2016 she has worked at the Institute of School Pedagogy as an assistant. In 2023, she successfully completed the doctoral programme in Special Education at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University in Brno. Since the same year she has been working as an assistant professor. The main area of her professional interest is speech and language development in preschool children, impaired communication skills and specifically impaired speech development. Her research interests are also in the field of education of children and pupils with special educational needs, diagnosis of SPU. Her teaching focuses on the areas of special education, inclusive education. She regularly participates in professional conferences, participates in the organization of various faculty activities, such as the Young Researchers Forum and coordinates the Junior University project.
