Future Teachers Try Out Practical Application of Innovative Approaches to Education

The Faculty of Humanities (FHS) of Tomas Bata University in Zlín educates a new generation of teachers for nursery and primary schools. FHS students regularly participate in practical classes, during which they have the opportunity to apply new trends and innovative approaches. During the so-called “Project Days”, organized by the Department of School Education of the FHS in cooperation with selected faculty primary schools, students demonstrate their innovative spirit and ability to motivate their pupils.

The Project Days in this year’s summer semester will take place on 9 April, 16 April and 23 April 2024. This time, under professional pedagogical supervision, 4th year students of the degree programme in Lower Primary School Teacher Training have prepared eight projects for the following primary schools: Kvítková, Mikoláše Alše and ZŠ Zlín, tř. Svobody 868.

“The programme will feature, for example, topics such as Saving the Island of Truth, Why Bees Are Vital to the World, The Mystery of the Laws of Nature or The Realm of the Animal Senses. The aim of the project is to broaden the horizons and awaken curiosity among pupils, who will work on complex tasks under the guidance of our students in order to solve real-life problems or complex issues,” said Dr. Helena Pospíšilová, guarantor of the course unit in Teachers’ Presentation Skills.

The Project Days present a great opportunity for pupils and students to gain new experience in planning, organising and evaluating of projects in addition to testing their teaching skills.
