Initial and Continuing Teacher Education
16. September 2024Involvement of the Institute of School Pedagogy in the Ministry of Education’s Pilot Project on Supporting Mentor Teachers (MSMT-34366/2022-3)
As part of this project, workshops were conducted over the past academic year for teachers from participating nursery and primary schools. These workshops aim to help teachers, students, and educators in teacher training programmes develop the professional competencies of future teachers and share experiences from both practical and academic environments. More than 40 educators from 16 partner schools underwent initial and ongoing training, enabling them to meet the standards required to qualify as mentor teachers.
The workshops focused on topics such as didactics, lesson evaluation, student portfolios, key aspects that motivate pupils to learn, leisure pedagogy, as well as practice reflection and suggestions for improving practical training. Sessions included opportunities for informal discussions and collaboration, such as the “Coffee with the Headteacher” initiative. The Mentor Teacher project, under the supervision of Associate Professor Marcela Janíková, PhD, and with physical activity events.
