Student at the Institute of School Pedagogy Publishing
20. March 2023Building on her participation in the Student Scientific and Professional Activity initiative, Klára Křivánková, a fifth-year student in the Primary School Teacher Training programme, successfully published an academic article in the latest issue of the journal Komenský, within the section From Students’ Work.
The article was published under the title Selected Issues of Teachers’ Beliefs About Homework in Primary Education.
The published article stems from a 2022 Student Scientific and Academic Activity (SVOČ) project, which aimed to explore the foundations and contexts underpinning teachers’ perceptions of pupils’ homework and home preparation.
“I focused on homework in 2021 as part of a SVOČ project under the supervision of PhDr. Barbora Petrů Puhrová, Ph.D. I further developed this topic in the following year, inspired by Prof. PhDr. Hana Lukášová, CSc., from the perspective of paedeutology. Since homework is not regulated by Czech legal standards, decisions about the nature or extent of homework are left entirely to the teacher. For this reason, I sought answers to the following questions: How do teachers perceive pupils’ home preparation? How do these perceptions evolve, and what informs their beliefs about homework? I conducted my research through interviews with three primary school teachers and analysed the data using interpretative phenomenological analysis,” explains Klára Křivánková, the author of the academic article.
