Practical Training
Information on internships
The curriculum of all study programs at our faculty includes mandatory professional internships, which makes the faculty unique among other faculties of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Our study fields are practically oriented, which is why we pay great attention to professional internships, both by establishing contractual relationships with quality workplaces, where students, under the guidance of experts, will receive the necessary training for their future profession, and by monitoring the course of internships. These practical experiences and skills, together with the acquired theoretical knowledge, ensure our student’s excellent employability in the labour market.
Internships at the Institute of School Pedagogy take place throughout the entire study period and, except for the final years, are provided directly by the faculty. Students in the 5th year of the 1st grade primary school teaching program and in the 3rd year of the kindergarten teaching program are chosen independently according to their preferences and place of residence.
Distance learning students and students of the Preschool Pedagogy study program can choose their internship independently.
The following forms of pedagogical practice are included in the study:
a) partial practical pedagogical projects,
b) continuous practice,
c) continuous practice,
d) creation of a practice portfolio
Continuous practice
This is a specific form of pedagogical practice, where students can try out specialization based on individual didactically guided subjects. They have the opportunity to closely cooperate and consult with individual methodologies (teachers) and try integrating individual areas into a whole. Students complete assigned tasks from the subjects for practice and carry out observations, and independent outputs.
The general task of practice is to “live the life of the classroom and the entire kindergarten or elementary school” and become a full-fledged part of them over a longer period (4 or 6 weeks depending on the study program). During this internship, the student should not just be an observer. Still, the teacher should involve the students in the events of the class and school, activities organized by the school for children, or for children and their parents so that they can gain comprehensive experience related to the profession of a teacher in an elementary school or kindergarten in all of its professional activities.
