Vyhodnocení literární soutěže Do They See Me?
8. listopadu 2018U příležitosti stého výročí založení naší republiky vyhlásilo Centrum jazykového vzdělávání pro všechny studenty FHS literární soutěž Writing Challenge. Soutěžící psali příběhy v anglickém jazyce o dvě stě slovech na téma Do They See Me? Všechny odevzdané práce splnily podmínky soutěže a první tři vynikaly jazykovým i stylistickým zpracováním.
Vybraní autoři prací si z rukou děkanky FHS převzali certifikát o svém umístění a byli odměněni mimořádným stipendiem.Oceněným studentům gratulujeme:

In memory of those who have fought for the independence of Czechoslovakia in the First World War
A few wounds more or less, what is it to you? What is it to you, who lies amidst soil and cloth heavy with water and blood of your comrades? Do you cherish your limbs, the ones that remain at least?
A few more wounds here and there, chunks of flesh missing, cuts adorning what once used to be flawless. It all creates a morbid picture but what is it to you if you die here today? Would you be considered useful to your nation? Would they lie you among the brave faceless ones? Or among the ones with countless useless awards on their chests that no one will remember and appreciate in a year’s time? What is fame to you, the one bleeding out on the land of your forefathers, marred by bloodshed? Will you feel accomplished, wherever you go? Is it all worth it?
There is metal wormed in warm flesh that used to be the pillar for safe future and yet all you can do is lie motionlessly and stare at the sky above you, thinking: “Do they see me?”
Now tell me, as your last breath leaves you, cold and gone. Was it all worth it?
